Privacy Policy

Trendlyst is operated by Akash Sahani ("Trendlyst," "we," "us," or "our").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share information when you use:

  • The Trendlyst browser extension
  • The Trendlyst website at trendlyst.app
  • The Trendlyst dashboard
  • Related APIs, transcription, translation and payment services

By using Trendlyst, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Process

The information we process depends on which Trendlyst features you use.

Account information

When you create or use a Trendlyst account, we may process:

  • Your email address
  • Account identifiers
  • Login and session information
  • Pro subscription or entitlement status
  • Available transcription credits
  • Purchase and transaction records
  • Account preferences

Trendlyst uses email-based authentication. We do not ask for your Instagram password.

Instagram content and metadata

When you start a sorting, analytics, export or download action, the extension may access content available on the supported Instagram page in your active browser session.

This may include publicly available information such as:

  • Instagram usernames and profile information
  • Posts, Reels and carousel information
  • Captions and hashtags
  • Views, likes, comments and engagement metrics
  • Post dates and timestamps
  • Music or audio information
  • Locations, links and shortcodes
  • Media URLs and content type information

This information is accessed only to provide the Trendlyst features you request.

Trendlyst is not designed to monitor your general browsing history. The extension operates on supported Instagram pages and uses page content and network responses only where necessary to provide user-facing features.

Locally stored information

Some information may be stored locally in your browser, including:

  • Extension settings
  • Sorting preferences
  • Grid display preferences
  • Custom weight formulas
  • Saved Profile Library entries
  • Local transcription history
  • Video-control settings and shortcuts

You can remove locally stored information by clearing the extension's data or uninstalling the extension.

Transcription and translation information

When you use transcription or translation, we may process:

  • The selected video or media URL
  • Instagram metadata associated with the video
  • Extracted audio
  • Transcript text
  • The selected translation language
  • Translated text
  • Processing status and error information
  • Audio duration and credits used
  • Batch transcription information

This information must be transmitted to our servers and service providers to complete the requested transcription or translation.

Completed transcripts and translations may be stored in your Trendlyst dashboard until you request their deletion.

Creator collections

If you use creator collections, we may store:

  • Collection names
  • Instagram usernames added to a collection
  • The account associated with each collection

Payments

Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider.

We may receive and store:

  • Order identifiers
  • Product purchased
  • Payment status
  • Amount and currency
  • Purchase date
  • Customer email
  • Refund or dispute information

We do not directly store your full debit card, credit card or banking details.

Support communications

When you contact us, we may collect:

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Message content
  • Screenshots, logs or other information you choose to provide

Technical information

Our website, APIs and service providers may automatically process limited technical information, such as:

  • IP address
  • Browser and device type
  • Operating system
  • Request timestamps
  • API request information
  • Error and security logs
  • Session cookies and authentication identifiers

We use this information to operate, secure and troubleshoot Trendlyst.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide sorting, analytics, comparison and export features
  • Display Instagram metrics on supported pages
  • Download posts, Reels and other supported media
  • Create and manage ZIP archives
  • Transcribe and translate videos
  • Maintain transcription and translation history
  • Manage accounts, purchases, Pro access and credits
  • Save creator collections and account preferences
  • Provide customer support
  • Prevent abuse, fraud and security incidents
  • Diagnose errors and improve reliability
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Enforce our Terms of Service

We do not use Instagram page content or browsing activity for advertising, credit scoring or unrelated profiling.

3. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Trendlyst limits its use of information obtained through the browser extension to providing and improving the user-facing features described in the Chrome Web Store listing and within the product.

We do not:

  • Sell extension user data
  • Use extension data for targeted advertising
  • Transfer extension data to data brokers
  • Use browsing activity for unrelated purposes
  • Use personal data to determine creditworthiness or lending eligibility

4. How Information Is Shared

We share information only where reasonably necessary to provide Trendlyst, process a request, comply with the law or protect the service.

Service providers may include:

  • Vercel, for website and API hosting
  • MongoDB, for account, transaction, collection and transcription data storage
  • Google Cloud and Firebase, for cloud infrastructure and bulk transcription job processing
  • AssemblyAI or another configured transcription provider, for converting audio into text
  • Google AI and OpenAI, for transcript translation and related AI processing
  • Dodo Payments, for checkout and payment processing
  • Email delivery providers, for login links and account-related messages

These providers may process only the information needed to perform their services for us.

We may also disclose information:

  • When required by law, regulation, court order or legal process
  • To investigate fraud, abuse or security threats
  • To protect the rights and safety of Trendlyst, its users or others
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or transfer of the service

We do not sell or rent personal information.

5. Local Processing and Server Processing

Sorting, grid metrics, extension analytics, exports, download coordination, custom formulas, video-control settings and the local Profile Library are primarily handled within your browser.

Server processing is required for features such as:

  • Account authentication
  • Payment processing
  • Pro entitlement and credits
  • Video transcription
  • Bulk transcription
  • Transcript translation
  • Google Sheets export, when you choose to create a spreadsheet from selected export data
  • Creator collections
  • Dashboard and transcription history
  • Support and security operations

Trendlyst does not ordinarily upload your complete sorted Instagram dataset or downloaded media to our servers unless the information is required for a server-backed feature that you choose to use.

When you choose Google Sheets export, the selected export rows are transmitted through Trendlyst's servers to create the requested spreadsheet in your Google account. Trendlyst does not retain the spreadsheet contents after the export request is completed.

Google authorization credentials for Sheets export are stored securely and used only to provide Google Sheets functionality. You can disconnect Google Sheets at any time.

6. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Trendlyst, comply with legal requirements, resolve disputes and protect the service.

In general:

  • Local extension data remains in your browser until you remove it or uninstall the extension.
  • Account information is retained while your account remains active.
  • Transcripts, translations and creator collections are retained until deleted or until the account is closed.
  • Google Sheets export contents are not stored after the export request completes. Google connection records are retained until you disconnect Google Sheets or close your account.
  • Payment and transaction records may be retained where required for accounting, tax, fraud prevention or legal purposes.
  • Technical and security logs are retained for a limited period based on operational and security requirements.
  • Support communications may be retained while necessary to resolve the request and maintain service records.

Some information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups after deletion.

7. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account or stored information
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Request a portable copy of certain information
  • Submit a complaint to an applicable data-protection authority

We may need to verify that the request comes from the email address associated with the account.

Deleting Trendlyst data does not delete information held independently by Instagram, payment providers or other third-party services.

8. Cookies and Sessions

Trendlyst may use cookies or similar storage technologies that are necessary to:

  • Keep you signed in
  • Maintain secure sessions
  • Remember account preferences
  • Prevent fraud and misuse

We do not use extension browsing data for third-party behavioral advertising.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information.

These measures may include:

  • Encrypted HTTPS transmission
  • Access controls
  • Authentication checks
  • Restricted database access
  • Secure cloud infrastructure
  • Monitoring for abuse and security incidents

No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your email account, browser and devices.

10. International Data Processing

Trendlyst and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure that information receives appropriate protection when processed internationally.

11. Children's Privacy

Trendlyst is not intended for children under the age of 18.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to Trendlyst, contact us so that we can review and delete it where appropriate.

12. Third-Party Services

Trendlyst interacts with Instagram and may link to external websites or services.

Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Trendlyst is not responsible for the privacy, security or content of third-party services.

Trendlyst is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Instagram or Meta.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Trendlyst's features, providers, legal obligations or data practices change.

We will update the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the website, extension, dashboard or email.

Your continued use of Trendlyst after an update means that the revised policy applies to your subsequent use of the service.
